It’s like coming home…
Twenty years ago, my brother and I made our “debut” as curtain raisers for my mom’s benefit recital for the Hanover Township public school system in Whippany, New Jersey. We were dressed to the nines – suit, bow tie, even a little pair of suspenders. Even though I was only five at the time, I remember the night extremely well. I walked on stage, played Fur Elise like it was the easiest thing in the world, took a bow, and then sat in the audience to take a long nap while my momperformed her recital. My dad woke me up after the last piece, and half asleep, with my shirt untucked, I walked back onstage to hand my mom a bouquet of flowers.
Since then, mom and I have come quite a long way (though I wish I still had a child-like immunity to stage fright!) I am honored to return to the very same stage with my mom to support my alma mater and the community we’ve called home for so many years.
On January 14th, Mom and I will be performing a two piano recital at Whippany Park High School for Halos for Angels Charity of East Hanover, which assists local families who suffer tragedies, and the Goryeb Cihldren’s Hospital of Morristown, a critical pediatric healthcare and research center. Whippany Park High School and Hanover Park High School faculty and students have worked with and supported these amazing organizations for years. We are excited to do our part.
